Baby and toddler swimming

MORE

Eltern-Kind-Kurs

Baby 4 - 8 months

Content of courses

Exercises and games for gentle water acclimatisation. For babies, water means something familiar through prenatal experiences in the mother's belly. They enjoy the twosomeness with the parent. The closeness to the body deepens the parent child contact. The adults learn different handholds in the positioning of the children. Songs and games edge the discovery of the water. During the exercises, babies reach for specific objects and explore them with their mouths. Core elements of movements are built up. The courses take place in 32 - 34 °C warm water.

Baby 9 - 13 months

Requirements

More complex connections are recognized by the child. Cause and effect lead to an understanding of noise development. Visual exploration goes hand in hand with mouth and tongue palpation. The breathing mechanism is stimulated. The biological functions of the skeletal muscles and the balance are developed. Here too, songs and games surround the exercise sequences, in which the curiosity of the children is awakened in many ways.
The courses take place in 32 - 34 °C warm water.

Baby 14 - 20 months

Content of courses

Various games (such as building, searching, hiding) lead the children to new emotional and motoric progress. Here, too, songs and games surround the exercise sequences, in which breathing technique plays an important role for the children's stay in the water. The courses take place in 32 - 34 °C warm water.

Toddler I (Parent-Child Course)

Content of courses

The exercises already contain core elements of swimming movements and diving. The breathing technique and the holding of air are further trained. Contrasting games promote intellectual development. The acquired motor skills refine the movement control.

Requirements

21 - 30 months

In the Toddler I course, it is obligatory that a parent or other confidant with safe swimming skills actively participates in the course as support. The courses take place in 32 - 34 °C warm water.

Toddler II (Parent-Child Course)

Content of courses

Often small children still have a low motory level and also their body proportions do not allow the postures (stretches), which enable the ideal water position and thus the self-experience of the buoyancy to float.

Goals:

- gentle reduction of the child's fears

- Getting used to the element water (temperature, water pressure, eyes, nose, mouth, ears)

- Teaching skills to parents to practice with the child themselves

- Guidance to the floating position on the back with the help of the parents

Requirements

31 - 52 months

In the Toddler II course, it is obligatory that a parent or other confidant with safe swimming skills actively participates in the course as support. The courses take place in 32 - 34 °C warm water.

teaching concept

Our courses are based on the concept of the Swiss Aquatics Association, which includes ten levels.

The swimming school in the Sportarena has the official quality license from Swiss Aquatics and meets the strict criteria of the swimming federation. This includes, among other things, teaching methodology, safety concept and KidsCoach education for all swimming instructors. In addition, the swimming school is committed to the Swiss Olympic Charter for Ethics in sports, the "Cool&Clean" prevention programme and Swiss Sport Integrity. The aims of the Swiss Sport Integrity Foundation are to combat doping, ethical misconduct and wrongdoing in sport in a sustainable and effective manner.

Carla Stampfli

Olympic athlete and multiple Swiss champion Carla Stampfli is responsible for the swimming school.

MORE

Carla Stampfli has around 20 years of experience in competitive swimming. She has held several Swiss records and participated twelve times in European Championships, twice in World Championships and once in the Olympic Games. After her swimming career, she switched to triathlon, where she won an Ironman 70.3 race, among others. After her Master's degree ("interpretariato di conferenza") in Milan, she completed the diploma course in journalism in Lucerne.

Campus Ducks

Has your child reached level 10 and wants to continue training? Or did our swimming instructors discover a particularly talented child? Then there is the possibility of "Campus Ducks".

MORE

The Campus Ducks are a training group for talented children who want to develop their swimming skills. The group represents the link between swimming school and competitive sports. The children are 10 years old or younger according to Swiss Aquatics guidelines. The training offer includes two mandatory sessions of 1 ¼ h each per week.

The training sessions are simple, playful and varied. The aim is to develop the children's swimming skills so that they have the potential to compete. If this potential is present, solutions are sought in cooperation with Swim Team Lucerne in order to promote the child in a competition group of the STL. Entry into the group is possible at the beginning of each course quarter.
